With Element, you can be sure your marine products and equipment comply with relevant international standards, regulations, and standards, including IEC 60945, Marine Equipment Directive (MED), and wheel mark regulations.

Why is maritime EMC testing is important?

This testing ensures that equipment will not interfere with navigation and radio communication systems within the bridge of a shipMarine equipment (shipborne radio equipment, shipborne navigational equipment, or other bridge-mounted equipment) is subject to harsh electromagnetic environments, whether in the propulsion, deck, or bridge area of a ship. Manufacturers can face difficulties during certification if testing is not conducted by a reputable and accredited third party.

What is IEC 60945?

IEC 60495 describes the EMC testing and performance requirements for Maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems. This international standard assists in meeting a requirement of the International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)The equipment to be tested includes the following:

  • Radio equipment forming part of the global maritime
  • Distress and safety systems
  • Navigation equipment
  • All other bridge mounted equipment in close proximity to receiving antennas, and equipment capable of interfering with navigational and radio communication systems within a ship

IEC 60945 certification

Our maritime EMC testing and certification services include:

MED, Wheel Mark certification, and CE marking

Element performs EMC testing in conjunction with climatic and environmental test requirements to meet dedicated marine standards and be compliant with CE marking legislation.
