Bill Hong is a highly experienced metallurgical engineer specializing in the testing of steel, aluminium, nickel and titanium alloys.

In addition to transportation and aerospace materials testing, Bill has expertise in failure analysis associated with litigation & engineering consultation. Bill was educated and trained in China and US in both mechanical and metallurgical / materials science disciplines at graduate levels. 

Industry Experience 

  • Lead failure analyst at General Motors North America Materials Testing Lab performing failure analysis on powertrain and chassis components 
  • Fifteen years experience in aerospace materials testing and failure analysis in commercial materials testing labs  
  • Plant metallurgist in steel heat treatment plants in early career

  • Team member of engine cradle crevice corrosion failure investigation of a major US automotive company
  • Failure analysis of boiler tube fuel ash corrosion and pipe stress corrosion cracking for major US chemical companies
