About Element High Wycombe

BM TRADA is part of the Fire Safety Services Testing team within the Element Group. 

The High Wycombe facility specializes in product and materials testing and is UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 to undertake testing for fire resistance, smoke leakage, structural integrity and performance, acoustic testing of building components, mechanical testing of construction products (specialising in timber and fasteners) and pre-completion air leakage and sound insulation testing of buildings. Located just 35 miles west of London, we have been providing testing services to the construction industry for over 40 years. Additional services provided by our team in High Wycombe include Management Systems, Chain of Custody, Product and Personnel certification schemes, as well as a range of timber consultancy services. We also offer a variety of fire, timber and quality training courses supported by up to date professional publications developed in association with the Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA).

 

Fire Testing

Our High Wycombe laboratory undertakes UKAS accredited fire resistance testing to British, European and international standards for a wide variety of passive fire protection products used in construction, including doorsets, door components, fire stopping products, glass & glazing systems and wall systems. We can also design ad-hoc fire test programmes for a range of bespoke projects in order to demonstrate whether products are fit for purpose. Additionally, we are able to undertake smoke leakage testing.  

 

Acoustic Testing

Our High Wycombe laboratory undertakes UKAS accredited acoustic testing to BS EN ISO 10140 series for construction elements seeking to demonstrate sound insulation performance up to 58 dB (Rw) or 73 dB (R'w). Our scope of testing includes doorsets, door seals, glazing systems, penetration and linear joint seals and single leaf partition systems. Our figures are calculated using BS EN ISO 717-1 - Rating of Sound Insulation in Buildings and of Building Elements.

 

Timber Services

We provide a range of timber technical services, including condition and structural surveys, expert witness, timber frame consultancy, timber engineering support, visual strength grading, timber and insect identification, coatings and treatments and cladding & decking inspection. Our UKAS accredited High Wycombe test laboratory undertakes structural testing for a wide range of materials and products used in buildings and the construction industry including board & panel products, engineered wood products, fasteners, connectors and adhesives, flooring, structural timber and wood based products.

 

Third Party Certification

We are a leading independent, fully accredited certification body and have been providing certification services to customers around the world for over 30 years. We provide certification to all major management systems standards (including, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 44001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001) as well as FSC, PEFC, RSPO, Sustainable supply chain certification, Product and personnel certification and UKCA/CE marking. Additionally we offer auditing services to support your business with respect to the GDPR.
